Ministries of Living Word
Living Word Church is a non-denominational church established in 1985 by Pastor Daniel & Sharon Cooper. Our main focus is to follow the Bible's two greatest commandments of loving God and loving people. We are a church that worships God in Spirit and truth in a biblical manner with liberty. Living Word reaches out to our community and to the world with the love of Jesus Christ restoring broken relationships and strengthening people by offering hope through God's Word.
The following ministries are a few of the ways that Living Word reaches out through faith, hope and love in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Mission Ministry
Local benevolence and foreign missions
At least 10% of the contributions given to Living Word go back into the community through local benevolence and into local and foreign mission fields. We believe God has placed us here to minister to the people of this community first, and then to take the gospel to the world.
We believe that God wants us to use all forms of media for His glory. Whether through TV, radio, the internet, or printed media, we are constantly looking for new ways to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Media Ministry
TV, radio, internet, newspapers, billboards
Fellowship Ministry Barbecue cookouts, steak dinners, seafood buffets, we are always cooking up something around here. Food is an important part of our daily lives. So we incorporate food into our fellowships as often as we can. Several times during the year we invite the community to come eat at our house (actually its God's house, but you know what we mean). We open our doors and in our best Southern drawl we yell "Come and get it!"
Outreaches through cookouts and free meals

We love God and we love to praise and worship Him. Our Praise Team looks forward to opportunities to proclaim Jesus and honor God outside the walls of the church. |

Prison Ministry We go into prisons to proclaim the good news in Word and worship. The inmates love Pastor Cooper and greatly appreciate Pastor and the Praise Team taking the time to visit and minister to them in prison. The worship is awesome, the anointing is powerful, and the results are life-changing.

Eagle Saints are senior Christians who enjoy the presence of the Lord together. Initially organized for seniors age 50 or above, the group is open to all who are young at heart and enjoy senior fellowship, regardless of age. The Eagles meet once a month, usually on the second Monday of the month, to fellowship over a meal, to travel to a local attraction, or to simply have a good time together. For information, contact the Eagle Saints director, Maxine Hutto (538-5506).
Men's Ministry
Reaching out to the men of our communty

There are also times when men need to get outdoors, to get away, or to simply exercise their manly instinct to get lost--while refusing to stop and ask for directions (it's a man thing, ladies). So we give our men room to roam. We go outdoors for a good old fashioned cookout, or we head to the river or the ocean for a day of fishing and a fish fry, or we take a road a trip to an event like Promise Keepers to hear godly men encourage us to swallow our pride and stop and ask for directions (keep praying for us ladies).
On Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. our men gather together to develop friendships while studying the Bible in a casual small group environment. We usually have a meal, Bible study and prayer time. We laugh and have a great time of fellowship as we grow closer to God, stronger in our faith, and get to know some great guys in the process.
Our church is filled with real men. Manly men. Mighty men of God who are not ashamed of Jesus and not afraid to call on God in prayer.

Women's Ministry
Bible studies, prayer groups, conferences and other events
The ladies of Living Word are known for their deep spiritual insight. With teachers like Linda Frazier, Sharon Cooper, and many others, the ladies flow in contemporary and prophetic teachings of the Word of God. This is the place for teenagers. Contemporary worship, youth conferences, youth games and activities, plenty of pizzas, burgers and hotdogs, youth trips to places like Walt Disney World, Carowinds, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Edisto Beach, Pensacola Beach, and other fun places. Each Sunday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. we have youth games, sports or other activities here at the church. We provide free food for teenagers like pizzas, burgers or some fun food that we cook on the grill. We also have a great time of worship and a contemporary youth service.
Rich truths of God's Word are brought to life in a way that everyone can relate to. New believers and mature Christians gain wisdom and insight that is relevant to their daily lives.
We invite you to come experience the richness of God's Word for your life and grow in your spiritual walk with the Lord with the ladies of Living Word.
Youth Ministry
RockSolid Youth Ministry
Teenagers are an important part of our lives here. Youth Pastor Ben Langdale, his wife Lisa, and their team of youth leaders really care about teenagers and they prove it by their dedication and devotion to the youth of our community.
This place rocks on Sundays.
School Ministry
Outreaches to local schools
Living Word is blessed with coaches, educators, administrators, secretaries and school volunteers. We have professionals who go into the schools each day for a living, and others--like the renowned Mr. Buddy--who go into the schools almost as much as teachers to volunteer their talents, skills and services. We strongly support our local schools through volunteerism, financial support, and we've even been known to feed local teams or help provide supplies for them.
Children's Living Word is a certified Kids' Fun Zone. We believe in creating a friendly, fun-filled environment where kids can laugh, play, and learn good things about God and people. With leaders and a host of volunteers, Living Word reaches out to every child on their level to share the good news of God's love.

We have hosted harvest festivals and invited children from the community to come play games and win prizes in a carnival type environment under a big tent (courtesy of the DuBoise family); we have cooked free meals (hot dogs, hamburgers or other carnival type food); we have given away bags and bags of candy to local children; we have created family fun festivals that kids love; but we can't stop there. |
| We are always looking for new and creative ways to reach the children of our community. For example, at the Colleton County Rice Festival, our children's ministry brought in the often-imitated-never-duplicated-the-one-the-only Gideon T. Tumbleweed, the Clown Prince of Holy Hilarity, and karate expert Wayne Herring. |

| All weekend these two men of God entertained kids and shared the good news of Jesus Christ on the streets of downtown Walterboro. Joining them were volunteers from Living Word who painted faces, played games, and shared age appropriate tracts with the children and families that stopped by our booth. |

So whether it is a Harvest Festival, Rice Festival, Across Festival, or simply a family fun festival, we look for opportunities to reach out to the children of our community to tell them God loves them and Jesus died for their sins. But then again this is something we do each Sunday morning and Wednesday night in our children's ministry at We have good news and we love to share it. |

Life Group Ministry Life Group are small groups of people who meet weekly in homes throughout the community to study, to share, and to support one another in their Christian lives. Each group is led by a trained leader. A typical meeting lasts about an hour and a half and includes light refreshments. Life Groups are a great way to connect with others in the church and community. |

Community Ministry We encourage everyone to be witnesses in the marketplace, and to live lives of worship by loving God and loving people. We want our members to keep this question in the forefront of their mind: How do I treat my spouse, my family, my co-workers, the people I worship with, and the people in my community? |
