Home Groups

"And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ" (Acts 5:42).
". . .he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying" (Acts 12:12).
What is a home group?
A home group is a small group (usually 6 to 12 people) who meet in a local home to study God's Word, encourage one another through fellowship and prayer, and develop close personal relationships. Home groups are for unbelievers, new believers, and mature Christians alike.
Why do we meet in home groups?
We believe small groups provide great opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. There are many small groups that meet at the church--men's groups, ladies' groups, and youth groups to name a few. Other groups may be more confined by time and space--not the best time to meet or no space available to meet. Still others simply desire more time to meet. Several years ago the Lord led Pastor Cooper to train leaders to extend the church beyond the walls of the church building. Pastor literally took the good news to the community--establishing home groups with trained leaders in locations throughout the county. These home groups transcend time and space limitations while providing opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
Are home groups Biblical?
In the Bible we often see Jesus ministering to large groups, but He also trained, encouraged, and ministered to His disciples in a variety of small group settings. The New Testament also makes reference to the early believers meeting in homes. Home groups provide opportunities beyond the walls of the church to form close relationships with other believers, pray for each other's needs, and encourage one another to become more like Christ.
